Thank You and An Update

A heartfelt Thank You to all who donated and participated in the 2011 Golden Apple Gala!!

The evening was very successful, raising over $10,750 for Children’s House Montessori School!!

The Museum of Florida Art provided a beautiful space for the festivities. There was a phenomenal menu and flavored coffees provided by Creative Catering, Brian’s BBQ, and City Slickers Cafe. Wine was provided by the Elusive Grape, and beer donated by Daytona Beverage. We were entertained by one-of-a-kind photos of our children by Sooz White, and enjoyed bidding on an impressive list of wonderful items.

Festivities include an evening of hors d’oeuvres, desserts, cocktails and live music. Tickets will go on sale for half price ($15) at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony August 18th, 5:30 pm at CHMS.  They will be on sale for $25 the rest of the week, then $30 prior to the Auction, $35 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at CHMS or on this website.

Please make a selection to help us plan.

In addition to one-of-a-kind items made by CHMS children, we will also auction off items donated by the CHMS community and beyond! Please consider any items or services your family or business may be willing to donate.

Advertising space in the auction program is available. Promote your business or services to the CHMS community!

Moving into our new building!!!

Good news! Our beautiful new building will be ready to occupy by Thursday, October 13, 2011. On that day, between noon and 6pm, we will need adult volunteers to assist the staff and students in moving all of the materials and furniture from the current school building into the new classrooms. Please sign up in the school office. Your help is greatly appreciated!

• Additional classroom space for children in the Upper Elementary Program effective immediately

Thank You To Our Families Who Participated In Clean-Up Day !!

 

We are so very thankful to all families who lent a hand at the annual Clean-Up Day! Despite hurricanes and the ongoing construction, we made huge strides toward having our outdoor areas neat and ready for the enjoyment of our children.

Our community and families are so supportive!  They created a warm, comfortable family environment, that empowered the children and encouraged their participation. A great deal was accomplished on such a HOT muggy day!

Thank you again to the Beautifcation Projects Committee for supporting the event, and to our families who worked so hard!!!

“An Exciting 2011-2012 Year Coming Up!”

 

After an incredible show of support from the Childrens House community and beyond, the Capital Campaign was successfully concluded after raising $47,913.36 in 30 days! These funds will allow for the addition of a new 3000 square foot building that will accomodate the growing Upper Elementary, re-establish the Library for all grade levels, and allow space for a proposed Middle School.  The Friends of Montessori is looking forward to working with the administration over this next year to provide the volunteer support and fundrasing necessary to allow them to accomplish their goals during this exciting period of growth.

 

The first upcoming event for the year 2011-2012 is Clean-Up Day.  In addition to the yearly weeding, mulching, and beautification projects that need to be accomplished to prepare the facility for the start of the school year, this year we will be doing extra planting and landscaping that is required for the new building.  It will be exciting to see our new space becoming a reality, and we will need your participation! Clean-Up Day will be Saturday, August 27th, from 8 am – noon (new date). Refreshments will be provided.  We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Children’s House Montessori School is hosting a Potluck Picnic on Friday, September 9th at 5:30 pm, in which all families gather to celebrate the beginning of a new school year. Friends of Montessori will be there with a craft table for the kids. Board members will be available to answer any questions about what FOM does and what volunteer opportunities are available to support the school.

The Friends of Montessori will sponsor a New Parents Breakfast on Saturday September 17th at 9:30 am to welcome the new families who signed up to begin their journey in our beloved school.

Also, watch for announcements for the official “Ribbon Cutting Ceremony” for our new building, and for our Fall Fundraisers ( The “Food, Fun and Friends Cookbook” and the Silent Auction ).

WE DID IT! “30k in 30 Days” Challenge raised $47,913.36!

We are so proud of the efforts of our children, and the support by our school community. Thank you to all of you who have given your time, your donations, your energy and your enthusiasm to this project.
